Ethan Monte

I love films and visual storytelling, so choosing this career was natural. While studying screenwriting at SUNY Purchase, I worked as a PA on indie sets—moving gear, building sets, getting coffee. Filmmaking is a team effort, and I was glad to contribute.

Now I want to do more than assist: I want to make my own films. That’s why I made Bird Flu, why I’m planning new projects, and why I’ve started networking with peers. I won’t give up—without the drive to act, nothing changes. That’s true in film and in life.

My goal remains to be a screenwriter and director, but I’ve grown to love script supervising. I tried it for a friend’s short film and got hooked. Reading scripts and seeing directors and actors interpret them in unexpected ways is both eye-opening and inspiring. The job needs intense focus, but helping an actor remember a line or telling set dressers if a prop was in frame makes it worthwhile. I want to keep improving as a script supervisor and learn from more experienced pros.

On top of this, I also bring producing, editing, and sound recording skills to the table. Picked up various schooling, gigs, and personal studies. Each of these abilities, plus more, are all means to reach my goal. Even if it’s a job I’ve never done before, as a fast learner, I’ll happily pick it up. It’s been over five years since I started, but I still have so much more to do and learn. I'm excited to share my journey with everyone and help create films that leave a lasting impact for generations to come.
